Like the song says “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and since 1986 the Black Box Players have been committed to just that…Putting on Shows! From our very youngest actors to our oldest actors we have  worked together as a team to bring your favorite musicals to life onstage… and to have lots of fun doing it!

Over the last almost thirty years we have had literally thousands of actors from 4 yrs old thru Adults  perform on our stage. BBP was started by MaryAnne Thornton and  the entire Thornton family has  been involved ever since- both onstage and behind the scenes. That’s why it makes us especially happy when we have entire families in our shows too. If you are  looking for a fun activity that you can do as a family then come join us for a show!!  And who knows… there may even be a role for the family dog too!!

Many of our young actors have continued on to study theatre in college and to work professionally as teachers, actors, singers, dancers, directors, film makers and techies. Several have landed roles in Broadway productions and other Equity shows all over the United States.

But the main thing we hear most often from our BBP alumni  is that they still cherish all the memories of the fun they had with BBP and that no matter where their lives have led them or what career paths they have chosen, the experience and self confidence they got from performing has helped them achieve their goals!

BBP presents four musicals per year. In addition to those four productions we also have our annual Children’s Musical Theatre Workshop and our C’ville Jr. Idol competition. Our All Girls Praise Show Choir, Higher Voices, performs locally throughout the year at Churches, Praise Expos, Nursing Homes and other community events.

Even though we are a totally self-supporting theatre it has always been very important to us to keep our prices reasonable so that anyone who wants to be involved as an actor in our shows or as an audience member at our shows can be. We are proud of the fact that our session fee rates have only  risen by $20.00 and our ticket prices by only $2.00 since our opening in 1986!

Open registrations for ages 4 yrs through Adults are held prior to each production- all ages and experience levels are welcome!
